Nehru-Science-Centre – Entry Point
A place full of wonders is not a place to miss.
Recently on my visit to Nehru Science Center in Mumbai, I realized that if I would have visited this place when I was younger, my school life would have been be very different from what it was.
Its amazing that this Nehru Science Centre in Mumbai can easily make anyone interested in science while fascinating them with wonders of science. Nehru Science Center through its exhibits explain us science in a very innovative fashion.
Where is Nehru Science Centre in Mumbai?
It is named on India’s first prime minister is situated in Worli, Mumbai. From Mahalakhsmi local railway station, Nehru Science Center is just around 1.5 Km, either one can hire a taxi or can simply walk for 20 minutes to reach.
Also, Nearest bus stop to Nehru Science Center in Mumbai is Jijimata Nagar. Another option can be a cab from Byculla station.
When to visit?
Good news is that except for Diwali and 2nd day of Holi, Nehru Science Center in Mumbai is open on all weekends and public holidays.
There are various knowledge and innovation programs which are offered by NSC on regular and weekend basis. Also, people can enroll their kids in these programs for developing innovative approach and thinking power in students.
What it has to offer?

Nehru Science Centre in Mumbai has more than 500 science exhibits kept in separate galleries and Science Park. Furthermore, it also has Odyssey for science movie lovers. Odyssey shows are available every day in AC auditorium 4 times; also if there are more than 50 viewers request shows can be arranged at separate timings from regular shows.
During my last visit I watched Aircraft Carrier – Guardians of the Seas movie which was full of amazing facts. Science which we read in books when applied practically seem to be magical. Movie was based on gigantic aircraft carriers from different countries; it also showed new generation aircrafts such as F-35 Fighter plane.
Exhibits of different categories are the main attraction of this place. Also Nehru Science Centre in Mumbai offers few other exciting shows like High Voltage and Spark where the scientists and technicians demonstrate the power of high voltage.
There are around 12-13 sections in which the science exhibits are kept such as science for children, sound and hearing, light and sight, evolution, machined to think, human and machine, prehistoric life, our technological heritage, hall of nuclear power.
Also, some other sections were under construction or renovation such as climate change and aerospace. But soon I will be visiting the Nehru Science centres to explore these sections as well.
Moment of Pride in Nehru Science Centre in Mumbai
Each and every section and exhibit is incredible. And if you wish to enjoy this place to fullest then devote your complete day to Nehru Science Centre in Mumbai.
Furthermore, this place does not only amaze you with its exhibits. It will also make you feel proud about how much India has contributed in the field of science. Discovery of zero, first plastic surgery and many other inventions and discoveries took birth in India.
There is a separate section of statues of Indian scientists in the park. When I read about those scientist there it was really an emotional moment for me. My country has given birth to many legends and great personalities.
From the time of Bramhgupta, Aryabhatt to APJ Abdul Kalam to recents scientists our country has many great scientists.
Why Nehru Science Centre in Mumbai is must go place?
This is a must go place for every Indian to understand our country’s development in field of science. Science, research and discoveries are very important for a country to grow. Organisations like ISRO and DRDO are world class organisations which are continuously making our country proud and also taking our country to next level.
Our scientists have achieved so much so far and there is lot ahead to achieve. Places like Nehru Science Centre in Mumbai make us (common citizens) aware of the efforts of our dear scientists.
Last but not least- Cost
The ticket costs is just Rs. 125 per person, only Rs 25 additionally you have to pay if you wish to enjoy High Voltage Show. The food at in-house canteen at basement of science centre was available at very reasonable price. A good quality veg thali will cost you just around Rs 120.
