Mountains makes Manali the best Honeymoon Destination
Mountains are the beauty of our planet, same as trust is of any relationship. I started my most important relationship in Manali. This picturesque place will always hold a special place in my heart as it was one of the honeymoon destinations of mine.
Being avid travelers, my husband and I decided to include more than 1 destination in our honeymoon and now we both can say that we made a wise decision by heading to Manali, a city in the northern end of Kully Valley.
Adventures will add Spice in your Perfect Honeymoon.
Manali offers many exciting spots as well as adventurous sports that will definitely give your adrenaline a rush. Although we went for a honeymoon but our trip was everything else but romantic.
Dear couples don’t be disappointed with my above statement as unquestionably Manali is one of the most romantic places in the world. It’s just we could not stop ourselves from indulging in so many other things that this heaven has to offer. And I hope you will love our experience.
Best time to visit Manali
I consider Manali to be a yearlong destination, but visiting it during monsoons does not seem to be a good idea due to heavy rain falls and landslides.
If you still need to plan this vacation during the monsoon, you should avoid stay and sightseeing near river side. Also, your outdoor activities like sports will be affected because of the rains.
Manali covered with the snow will definitely be a sight to look forward but this comes with a fact that winters are super freezing here. And summers, is there can be a better place than Manali to go when most of the places are so HOT? Like most of the India has almost reached 50 degree Celsius this summer.
Usually my suggestion remains to not buy any tour or travel packages and explore the place yourself but still if you are coming from far, it becomes so convenient to buy a package and just enjoy the journey and trip.
If you are looking for a trip package for Manali, try to book it with travel agency which is local to Himalayan region and is not from your own city.
Internet has made things easy now; you have abundant options to choose. Choose a local agency and save your money. Or if you want to explore yourself then the best way is to reach Delhi first and take bus or cab to Manali.
When we went there, we took a bus to Shimla first. Then we took a cab to Manali after exploring the beauty of Shimla.
Alternatively, you too can choose to explore Shimla with Manali. From Delhi, you can take a train to Kalka then a Toy Train to Shimla. Explore Shimla then move to Manali by cab.
Hotels and Accommodations in Manali
The hotel rooms and their costs depend on the season you visit Manali, on-season will cost you more bucks than off-season. So a common but a pro trip is to book the rooms well in advance.
Book a stay in Manali, which should either be closer to banks of the Beas River or a stay near popular Mall Road as it will be very close to popular tourist destinations.

It is the most breathtaking destination in entire Kullu Valley and it connects Kullu valley to Lahaul and Spiti valleys of Himachal Pradesh.
Rohtang pass is also considered dangerous because of uncertain snowstorms.
It remains close during winters and usually is open from May to November. So if you don’t want to miss this beautiful destination, plan according to these months.
To curb pollution, government issues online permit to vehicles. Only first 800 petrol and 400 diesel vehicles are provided with permit everyday and the permit can only be used for next 6 days from the date of issue and is valid for one day to and fro journey. Permits are not issued on Tuesday for the maintenance reasons.
As this destination involves number of slippery turns and curves, it is best if you a hire a taxi or an experienced driver.
This amazing destination is around 12-13 kms away from the Manali. And the road to it is mesmerizing as well as thrilling.
This is the must visit place as here exactly the real thrill of mountains will begin. Your heart will pump faster yet you will feel the most relaxed.
I was a novice to all the mountains adventures till I reach here. And we did everything we were afraid of from skiing to paragliding to parachuting to zorbing to mountain biking to jeep safaris to river rafting.
If you getting high reading about these sports and want to experience it. You must plan to visit the Solang Valley between December and February as most of the sports are available year-long but snow is a factor available largely in winters only.

Beas River, Vashisht and Naggar Village
For the explorer in you, you can check on the local lives of Manali people and some beautiful Hindu temples in these destinations.
Experience a beauty of Buddhism. I personally loved the ambience, peace and beauty of popular monasteries like Manali Hompa, Himalayan Nyingamapa Gompa and Thekchoking Gompa.
An ancient cave temple that is surrounded by forest called Dhungiri. Towering Deodar trees make this place even beautiful. This temple is dedicated to Hidimbi devi, who was wife to Bhim, a prominent character in Indian epic Mahabharat. She is prominent deity here and queues of people can be seen all year but the numbers increases the most during Navratri.
Areas near Mall road can be best explored on foot. You will find lovely roads, small gardens, shops, eateries.
What and where to Eat in Manali
I ate at so many places in Manali and was mostly happy and satisfied with the taste and costs of food. But the most accessible items you could get anywhere were Maggie and Parathas.
Enjoy the street food especially these two while exploring the places anywhere in Manali.
For the main course, we preferred good local restaurants with decent ambience. The Johnson café and restaurant is one such place I remember. They had really great food, great ambience and super great music.
Being Comfortable is the Best Fashion
Hey Girls, plan your attires as per hill station even if you are traveling in hot summers.
There is no way you will feel comfortable in hot pants in Manali. Also, you will look crazy if you wear shorts there.
Don’t Eat Too Much
Please don’t upset your stomach by eating too much as you will have to travel through hilly and dangerous roads most of time. Consider taking small portions before traveling to distant locations especially.
Either consider fix rate shops or bargain very hard to reach reasonable prices. You can buy Shawls and winter wears from here at reasonable rates. Here shops have beautiful turquoise jewelries for you and delicate show pieces you can buy for your home interiors.

Fans and ACs are not popular in Manali, but make sure your hotel should have water heater and room heater. This will ensure that you are not freezing in Manali.

Manali is one of the most budget friendly locations without any doubt. Bus to Manali from Delhi return fare will be under Rs 2k for 1 person.
Decent stay will cost you 3k per day and food will cost around Rs 1k per day.
Buy sports package for optimizing the cost of mountain sports but trust me they offer best price in the world for these amazing sports. You can consider around 12k per per person for all the sports.
For hiring taxis, book an online car in advance. It will cost you around 3k per day for 5-seat car. Himachali drivers are very helpful and friendly. Our cab driver still calls us sometimes asking when we will visit again.
